MacKinnon and Bowes is proud to be recipients of many awards and commendations. Many of our staff members are proud recipients of awards not related specifically to funeral service. Below is a list of honors and awards.

Funeral Service Association of Canada "Award of Merit" for 2013. -  Presented to Allan Cole for Outstanding Contributions for the Enhancement of the Canadian Funeral Profession Throughout a Distinguished Career in Funeral Service, Presented June 6, 2013 at London, Ontario, Canada.  This special honour is awarded annually to a member of the Funeral Service Association of Canada for contributions made by an individual over the span of their career.  This is the highest honour and recognition  that can be bestowed upon someone in Funeral Service in Canada each year.

Honourary Degree - Canadian Forces Staff College - Toronto June of  2011.  Presented by Brigadier General D.C Hilton to Allan Cole   "deemed to have provided a significant contribution to the educational value of the Joint Command and Staff Programme".

Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Certificate of Recognition,  
This Certificate presented to MacKinnon & Bowes on 6 September 2014 to mark the enduring relationship between MacKinnon & Bowes and the PPCLI and to commemorate 100 years of service to Canada by the PPCLI.
Presented by Lieutenant General R.R. Crabbe, Colonel of the Regiment to Jane Titcombe at the Royal Canadian Military Institute.

Land Force Western Area General's Commendation, Canadian Armed Forces, Edmonton, Alberta.  "MacKinnon & Bowes and it's staff are commended for their outstanding work and support during the repatriation of the Land Force Western Area Soldiers who gave their lives in Afghanistan".

Bereaved Families of Ontario - Founders Award 2012 - Presented to Allan Cole for dedication to the organization and for the betterment of Bereaved Families of Ontario  - Toronto Chapter.

Canadian Army Commendation Presented by Lieutenant-General Andrew Leslie - 2008. Presented to MacKinnon & Bowes Limited - "in recognition of the exemplary professionalism demonstrated by all members of MacKinnon & Bowes in providing mortuary services to Land Force Command for all our fallen soldiers from Task Force Afghanistan.  The expertise and compassion that so distinguishes MacKinnon & Bowes have been both a tremendous source of comfort to our grieving families".  

Bereaved Families of Ontario 2008 - Presented to MacKinnon & Bowes Limited In recognition of your valuable contribution to Bereaved Families of Ontario - Toronto Chapter.

Land Force Command - Army Commendation - 2008 Presented to Allan Cole by Lieutenant General Andrew Leslie " in recognition of the exemplary professionalism demonstrated in his capacity as President of MacKinnon & Bowes, providers of Mortuary Services for all of the Canadian Forces....."

Presented to Luc Gingras  - Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff - Distinguished Service Medallion, 2007.  "Mr. Gingras is awarded the Canadian Forces Medallion for Distinguished Service for the many years of professional, dedicated, and selfless service he has rendered to supporting Canadian Forces operations throughout the world".  This is the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a Civilian by the Canadian Military and is a special recognition reserved for very special circumstances.

Army Commendation - R22 Regiment - Valcartier, Quebec 2008  "La remarquable capacité d'adaptation de cette entreprise à la situation particulière de chaque repatriement a fait en sorte que les familles éprouvées par la perte immense d'unedes leurs ont été traitées avec respect et dignité".

Ontario Funeral Service Association Award of Merit 2008 for Professionalism demonstrated by MacKinnon & Bowes for the Repatriation of Canada's Fallen from Afghanistan.

Presented to Jane Titcombe - Canada's Chief of the Defence Staff - General Rick Hillier -  Distinguished Service Medallion, 2007. "As the MacKinnon & Bowes manager responsible for orchestrating travel, comfort, accommodations and support for grieving families, she has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, compassion, and dedication".  This is the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a Civilian by the Canadian Military and is a special recognition reserved for very special circumstances.

Honorary Degree- Humber Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology 2009 - presented to Allan Cole - "In recognition of his continued support of the Funeral Service Education Program at Humber and to varied civic agencies that serve and protect the public interest...".

The Ontario Funeral Service Association Cornerstone Award for 2004. presented to Allan Cole at Honey Harbour Ontario - "Presented to a member that has demonstrated a passion for the pursuit of service excellence".    "Recipients of this award are the authors of positive change within the funeral profession. These changes have benefited the profession and enhanced the quality of service provided to Ontario families".
